TRADITIONAL FOOD SPECIALITES: Alba white truffle, Tonda Gentile hazelnut, PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) cheeses (Murazzano, Robiola di Roccaverano, Raschera, Bra), bagna cauda (chopped anchovies and garlic based dipping sauce used to dip vegetables in), ​​veal with tuna sauce, Albese meat (local version of steak tartare), tajarin (kind of pasta), ravioli del plin (stuffed pasta with meat and vegetables).

MUST DO’S: The centenary Cedar of Lebanon and the Barolo Chapel in La Morra, the charming village of Neive, Barolo’s historic cellars, the white truffle of Alba.

The Langhe region

Langhe is an area of the Piedmont region, between Cuneo and Asti, about one hour drive from Turin. 

This hilly land is generally divided into low Langhe, where hills don’t exceed  600m,  known worldwide for its wine and truffles, and high Langhe, where hills can reach 900m and the renowned variety of hazelnuts “Tonda Gentile” grow.

This area harvests unique food and wine products, enriching the natural land’s beauty. Amid vineyards, castles and historic medieval villages, there are many different ways of enjoying this region: driving, cycling or hiking.

Fascinating landscapes, superb cuisine and small villages. The Langhe region is a perfect destination for a romantic weekend, a day trip or a longer holiday indulging in traditional food tastings, outdoor activities and relax.

BEST TIME TO GO: The best time to visit Langhe is definitely between September and November, landscapes appear most charming in autumn. Moreover, most of the celebrated events such as the grape harvest, the Truffle Fair and Cantine Aperte (open cellars) take place at this time of the year. 

HOW TO GET THERE: By plane or high-speed train via Turin. Alba and Bra can be reached with regional trains.

HOW TO GET AROUND: The most convenient way is by car or by train. You may also go around by e-bike.

WHERE TO STAY: Generally Alba is a good choice to stay in Langhe.

HOW LONG SHOULD I STAY: You may do it on a day trip, but you should ideally spend at least a weekend to get a chance to visit the villages and savor the great variety of traditional food.
